oil and chalk on canvas
What orange is to me? May be the most energetic and shiny colour - the pigment is called coral, an utterly brilliant orange, close to vermillion. Vermillion brings ideas of robes of powerful poeple in late medival paintings to the mind: folds that empasize movement and the presence of the body under the velvet, silk and lane. I dress the canvas with movement, an all over of traces of orange paint on the brush until it is everywhere. The orange in it's extreme presence represents the unnatural, the idea, colur as such, surface as such, movement as such. The image is a dancing, stirred up surface through wich the conciousness slibbs into awareness.
